The Faculty of History, University of Oxford welcomes applications from suitably qualified applicants for this year’s British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship scheme, for awards to be taken up in September or October 2019. The scheme is designed to “offer opportunities for outstanding early career researchers to strengthen their experience of research and teaching in a university environment which will develop their curriculum vitae and improve their prospects of obtaining permanent lecturing posts by the end of the Fellowship. The primary emphasis is on completion of a significant piece of "publishable research”.
Applicants must have obtained their doctorate recently (for the October 2018 deadline, the viva must have been passed after 1 April 2016 and no later than 1 April 2019), and must not have held an established teaching post in an institution of higher education. If you have previously applied to the scheme, you can only re-apply if you have been invited by the BA to do so.
Fellowships would commence between 1 September 2019 and 1 January 2020, and would be tenable for three years (not renewable).
All applicants should have secured the agreement of a potential mentor within the Faculty.
