The Department of History, Classics and Archaeology at Birkbeck, University of London welcomes expressions of interest from early-career researchers who intend to apply to the next round of British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowships, which will open in the Summer with a deadline in October 2019.

With some 40 full-time members of staff and a cohort of currently 7 postdocs working on all periods from pre-history to the present, the Department has an outstanding track record in attracting and supporting successful post-doctoral applications in all fields. The Department is particularly keen to grow its strength in American History, Greek Archaeology and Medieval History, but applications from all fields and periods will be considered.

HCA offers an exciting and welcoming environment for early career researchers, a regular staff seminar and contacts across the country and internationally.

Applicants are invited to contact prospective mentors in the Department in good time in order to prepare a short pro-forma application for selection by the College. The deadline for internal applications will be 24 June 2019.
