Yale University Art Gallery seeks applicants for The Bradley Associate Curator of Academic Affairs.

The Bradley Associate Curator of Academic Affairs leads efforts to position the museum as a vital center for learning through teaching with its collections across the Yale curriculum. With a comprehensive and specialized knowledge of art history or related discipline in one or more of the Gallery's collection areas, this position conceives, implements, and oversees Yale course sessions in the galleries and object study classrooms, collaborating with faculty and relevant Gallery staff. This position develops events and programs that prepare faculty to teach with the collection, and collaborates with Education and Programs department colleagues to create public programs, adult learning opportunities, and co-curricular activities that build upon relationships with faculty, course collaborations, and the New Haven community. Contributes to the field of academic affairs through research, program evaluation, and writing. This position reports to the Nolen Curator of Education and Academic Affairs and oversees the Lewis B. and Dorothy Cullman-Joan Whitney Payson Fellow. Strategizes the integration of the Gallery’s collection into teaching across the Yale curriculum. Oversees the implementation of object study sessions, working closely on specific faculty collaborations. Conceives and oversees programs advocating for faculty to incorporate teaching with original works of art into their syllabi, including faculty seminars, workshops, curriculum-development grants, and study days. Collaborates with Education staff to develop a Gallery-wide pedagogical and philosophical approach to teaching with objects and cross-disciplinary thinking. Supervises departmental staff, fellows, and interns. Implements Study Gallery installations related to Yale courses, working closely with faculty collaborators and all relevant museum departments.  Represents Yale to the outside community for the purpose of promoting the Education department’s research and programming. Regularly teaches object study sessions. Teaches Yale classes and oversees Yale graduate and undergraduate research. Conducts all preparatory research necessary to ensure best practices in museum teaching. Along with Education and Programs departments, conceives and executes a wide range of public programs, adult learning opportunities, and co-curricular activities that build relationships. Develops partnerships with other colleges and universities, especially those in the New Haven area, to promote teaching with the Gallery’s collection at the university level. Applicants with an interest in the cross-over between the arts and sciences are encouraged. Thorough knowledge of art history and cultural, social, political, and literary history. Must utilize a comprehensive and specialized knowledge of art history or related discipline in one or more of the Gallery’s collection areas.

Required Education and Experience
Master’s Degree in Art History and five years of curatorial experience or an equivalent education and experience.
