British Academy at Ankara Research Grants are intended for primary Directors of large-scale research projects that address one or more of the Institute’s current Strategic Research Initiatives. Proposals may relate to all historical periods up to and including contemporary Türkiye.

Project Directors of any nationality working in the UK or abroad for a UK Higher Education Institution, as well as researchers directing projects that are based formally and demonstrably in the UK, are eligible to apply for a BIAA Research Grant of up to £20,000 to support large-scale fieldwork projects. Projects should be located within the fields of the arts, humanities and the social sciences and should be related to and/or undertaken in Türkiye and the Black Sea region.

The maximum award amount is £20,000.
