The University of Silesia announces an open call for an Assistant Professor (post-doc) position in the research employees’ group at the Faculty of Humanities. The successful applicant will be employed in the University project Towards Byzantine Zoopoetics: Humans and Non-Human Animals in Byzantium (10th-12th Centuries), conducting research on Byzantine zoology and the reception of ancient zoology in the Middle Byzantine period.
Qualifications
- PhD in Humanities granted maximum 7 years before the planned employment,
- achievements in the discipline of Literary studies/History (or similar disciplines; in the case of foreign candidates: Byzantine philology, classics), including publications in recognized foreign journals,
- knowledge of Byzantine literature (especially 10th-12th century), knowledge of the ancient zoological thought,
- ability to write scholarly publications in English,
- knowledge of ancient Greek, ability to read articles in conference languages.
The position is fixed term for 3 years beginning January 1, 2021.
