Central Connecticut State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of World History before 1500 in the Department of History. The department seeks a scholar of the ancient or medieval world whose work focuses on Europe or the Mediterranean. Each semester, the successful candidate will teach a combination of general education courses, including a survey of pre-1500 world history, and upper-level undergraduate or graduate courses in field of specialization. The successful candidate will also serve the department by supporting the department’s social studies education program, including working with the social studies coordinator to interview applicants to the teacher program, advise teacher candidates, and ensure the cutting-edge training of future teachers in the history of the world before 1500.

A Ph.D. in history or a related field in hand or due to be conferred by August 1, 2024, is required.
