The Department of History, Grinnell College, invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in Medieval or Early-Modern Europe beginning Fall 2017.

Assistant Professor (Ph.D.) preferred; Instructor (ABD) or Associate Professor possible.

Area of specialization open. We particularly welcome candidates whose teaching and/or research interests take a diverse or global perspective.

The teaching load is five courses over two semesters; periodically one course will be Tutorial (a topical writing/critical thinking course for first-year students, the only College-wide requirement beyond the completion of a major in an individually-advised curriculum). The successful candidate will teach introductory, intermediate, and advanced courses in his/her/zir area of specialization, and will mentor student research projects.
