The Department of the Classics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor with a specialization in Mediterranean Archaeology.

The appointee will be expected to conduct independent research and build a portfolio of publications; perform academic duties associated with our B.A. program, which includes a Classical Archaeology option, and with our M.A. and Ph.D. programs; and teach effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Preference will be given to candidates who are significantly involved in a major excavation in the ancient Mediterranean. Applicants are expected to present evidence of excellence in research and teaching. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Greek or Roman Archaeology (or in an immediately relevant field) required by mid-June 2018 for preferred start date of August 16, 2018.
