The Department of History at Durham University invites applications from outstanding candidates for the post of Assistant Professor in Medieval Economic and/or Social History, 1000 -1500 (open as regards geographical area).
The post-holder will undertake and publish excellent and original research, and contribute to research-led education for both undergraduates and postgraduates. They will take a leading part in securing external research funding, contribute where appropriate to external engagement and impact, and participate in the Department’s administrative and management roles. If appropriate, they will contribute to the development of the interdisciplinary centres and to the broader research culture within and beyond the Department. They will be a committed teacher, passionate about the discipline and able to convey that enthusiasm to our students and to our colleagues.
Applicants must demonstrate research excellence in the field of Medieval Economic and/or Social History, 1000 -1500 (open as regards geographical area), with the ability to teach our students to an exceptional standard and to fully engage in the services, citizenship and values of the University.
All applicants must have a good first degree and a PhD in medieval economic and social history (1000-1500) or a related subject.
