The Department of History at Durham University seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor of History in the period c.950-c.1250 (CE). All fields and thematic areas of expertise are welcomed, particularly those which complement and/or expand the Department’s existing coverage. Applicants with interests in Mediterranean, North African, Iberian, Islamicate, Byzantine and Eurasian Studies are all encouraged, as well those with expertise in European History.

The Department is at an exciting point of expansion, with growing strengths in a number of areas including early modern and modern East Asian history, the history of science and environmental history. Applicants should show how their research work will complement that of existing staff in the Department, particularly within medieval studies.
