The Department of Religion and Culture at Virginia Tech seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the area of Early Christianity to begin August 2017. A secondary specialization in Christianity’s continuing interaction with the other Abrahamic traditions, especially in the Middle East, is highly desirable. Additional areas of interest are welcome, including theory and methodology in the study of religion and culture.

The qualified candidate must demonstrate an active research agenda, excellence in the classroom, interdisciplinary inclinations, and a willingness to collaborate with colleagues in the department and across the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences. Expected/standard teaching load is 2 courses per semester and must include existing courses on the New Testament. Appropriate Ph.D. must be in hand by August 2017.
