The Department of Antiquities at the University of Basel invites applications for an assistant (post-doctoral student) in ancient history to begin August 1, 2020.
In addition to the academic qualifications at the University of Basel, the tasks of the assistant include participation in teaching (2 semester hours per week), academic self-administration and cooperation in the support of students and scientific projects in ancient history.
The successful applicant will have completed a master's degree or equivalent (licentiate, master's degree) and a doctorate in ancient history and be working on a scientific qualification project. A research focus on Roman Egypt or the Eastern Mediterranean in Roman times is desirable but not a prerequisite.
For postdocs, the position is limited to two years with the possibility of an extension for another four years.
