24th International Congress of Byzantine Studies, Istanbul, August 23–28, 2021

The Turkish Organizing Committee of the 24th International Congress of Byzantine Studies has requested that all national committees propose up to 10 The announcement includes information about the themes and the basic structure of the Congress program. At this point, all national committees are requested to propose up to 10 Round Tables for the meeting.

The US Committee thus invites all US-based Byzantinists to submit proposals for round tables to be put forward by the US National Committee, with a convener and 4 to 6 participants by MAY 1 2018 by email to KruegerD@uncg.edu.

See below for the general rules for round tables. At this stage, the US National Committee needs the following: a title; an abstract of 250 words; the names of the convenor(s) and speakers as well as the name of the person sending the proposal; and his/her affiliated institution and his/her mail address.

In our experience, proposals are most successful if the panel consists of participants from multiple countries. Proposals that are rejected may be eligible to become organized sessions during the Free Communications.

A call for Free Communications will be forthcoming in 2019. Byzantinists based in Canada should respond to a call from the Canadian Committee of Byzantinists.

  • We strongly encourage those who propose Round Table sessions to follow the Congress main theme and the themes of the Plenary Sessions.
