The Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences at Simon Fraser University invites applications for the Farley Distinguished Visiting Scholar in History for the 2020-21 academic year. The Farley Distinguished Visiting Scholar is dedicated to the teaching of history, which is understood to include studies of the past, including the recent past, carried out within the departments and programs of the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences.
The Farley Distinguished Visiting Scholar is appointed as a Visiting Faculty Member for up to any two terms in an academic year. SFU operates year-round, with Fall, Winter, and Summer terms. Visiting Scholars are expected to have extensive interaction with faculty and students, and to help stimulate discussion across disciplines. They normally teach one course or lead other type of relevant intellectual activity that will be open to students across the university. It is also expected that Visiting Scholars engage in public outreach, which could consist of a public lecture or take some other form.
