The University of Bergen Department of Archaeology, History, Cultural Studies and Religion invite applications for up to five PhD Research Fellowships available from 1 January 2019.
Applications may be in any of the department’s subject areas:
- Archaeology
- History
- Cultural Studies (Ethnology/Folklore)
- Religion
The research fellow must take part in the University´s approved PhD program. The fellowships’ main goal is to lead to a PhD degree, which qualifies for independent research activities, and for other work that requires similar qualifications. The employment period may be reduced if the selected candidate previously has been employed in a recruitment position. Applicants who has previously held a PhD-position at UiB cannot apply.
The fellowships are awarded for a period of four years, provided progress is satisfactory. Of these, three years is set aside for the research project and PhD education, while the last is allocated to teaching and other obligations done for the department.
The successful applicants will be expected to relocate to the University of Bergen and conform to the regulations that apply to the positions.
