American Center of Oriental Research (ACOR) offers a number of modest fellowships that are funded from ACOR’s own endowments. Many are named after individuals who have made substantial contributions to ACOR in terms of scholarship or service.

Jordanian Graduate Student Scholarship
The ACOR Jordanian Graduate Student Scholarships are four awards of $3,000 each to assist Jordanian graduate students with the annual costs of their academic programs during the period May 1, 2016 through May 31, 2017. Candidates must be Jordanian citizens and currently enrolled in either a Master’s or Doctoral program in a Jordanian university. Eligibility is limited to students in programs related to Jordan’s cultural heritage (for example: archaeology, anthropology, linguistics/epigraphy, history, conservation, museum studies, and cultural resource management related issues).

Pierre & Patricia Bikai Fellowship
The Pierre & Patricia Bikai Fellowship will be awarded to assist one graduate student for two months or two students for one month in conducting archaeological research in Jordan. The fellowship will provide room and board at ACOR and a stipend of $600 per month. The fellowship must be used during the period between May 1, 2016 and April 30, 2017. It may be combined with another ACOR fellowship that will assist with travel, or the applicant may find travel funds from other sources.
